The Yamaha SB7J Silent Brass systems lets you play anytime without worrying about volume. Yamaha’s next generation SILENT Brass™ makes it happen. The SILENT Brass™ consists of a smaller, lighter, freer blowing Pickup Mute™, and the Personal Studio™, which features Yamaha’s exclusive Brass Resonance Modeling™. Used together, the two deliver the natural acoustic tone making it feel as though you are playing mute free.

Brass Resonance Modeling™ Ver.2.0
Brass Resonance Modeling™ is original Yamaha technology. This technology effectively cancels the characteristic closed sound of a mute, reproducing the open, natural sound of the unmuted instrument. This reduces stress on players by allowing them to practice and play freely without feeling restricted by the mute.
Brass Resonance Modeling utilizes three simultaneous processes to produce the realistic tone of the brass instrument.
Two Modes of Play
Player Mode:
- Cancel the distinctive mute sound. Sound picked up by the microphone is processed digitally to cancel out the characteristic “closed” sound of the mute.
- Add the instrument’s natural sound. The natural sound that emanates from the bell and returns to the player’s ears.
- Adjust left-right balance to match the player’s position.
Audience Mode
- Cancel the distinctive mute sound. Sound picked up by the microphone is processed digitally to cancel out the characteristic “closed” sound of the mute.
- Add the instrument’s natural sound. The natural sound that emanates from the bell and reaches the audience’s ears when the instrument is played without a mute is reproduced and added, recreating the sound an audience hears when an instrument is played on stage.
- Adjust left-right balance to match the player’s position. The timing, volume, and tone of the sound reaching the audience’s left and right ears are individually adjusted, and reverb is added as needed to accurately simulate the feel of hearing the sound being played on stage from audience seating.

Choose from hall or room reverb. Adjust the volume via the slider to dial in the perfect amount of space.
Micro USB
Connect the SB7J to your smartphone or computer for easy recording. No audio interface or complicated wiring is necessary.
Rec’n’Share APP
Connect up to the Rec’n’Share App for one easy solution to mix audio and video for online use. This App lets you adjust tempo of songs for practising, and AB repeat functions. It’s the perfect tool for practising and easy recording.
