The EF381SCLH 12-string dreadnought is handcrafted in Takamine’s pro series facility that has been building precision quality instruments over five decades.
The versatility of this guitar begins with its solid spruce top that can play sweet mellow passages or power chords with equal ability. The maple back and sides are a perfect reflector for the tone generated by the soundboard, while the gloss black finish looks great under the stage lights. The mahogany neck is joined to the body with a traditional, ultra strong dovetail joint.
Additionally, this guitar has been upgraded with Takamine’s CTP-3 CoolTube preamp system!
The CTP-3 CoolTube, the first and only onboard tube preamp for acoustic guitar, produces a rich, full sound. It takes its name from innovative Takamine technology. It runs its 12AU7 dual-triode vacuum tube at very low voltages – so low that it stays cool to the touch! The preamp also includes variable tube tone that can be adjusted, ranging from bright and brilliant to thick and warm.
The full-range EQ section uses shelving filters to sculpt bass and treble frequencies. This allows semi-parametric shaping control over the midrange. Additionally, a control knob adjusts the frequency from 250Hz to 5kHz, and a pinpoint-precise onboard chromatic tuner is standard equipment. Other features include Mid and High cut switches for a second pickup.
