THE TIMBERS

Each Tanglewood guitar is constructed from the very best materials. These are first selected from country of origin, cut, kiln dried and most importantly, stored correctly pre production.

Australian Red Cedar of the highest grade is utilised for the top of each Tanglewood 20th Anniversary guitar. Tight grained, rigid along the length, yet flexible across the grain, this is married to the unique bracing pattern. Here we have the heart of the Tanglewood sound, a tone that matures beautifully over time.

The Mahogany back and sides are both traditionally quartersawn. Tanglewood’s highly skilled craftsmen graduate the back until it resonates with the top to breathe, generating superb physical resonance. (A fact generally ignored by most guitar makers though it has an incredible impact on overall sound!)
